Unleash The Power Of Your Mind
When you hear the word hypnosis, what probably comes to mind is a mysterious, bearded man waving a pocket watch back and forth, guiding his subject into a zombie-like state. Then, once hypnotized, the subject is compelled to obey, no matter how strange the request. Muttering, "Yes, master," the subject does the hypnotist's bidding.
Of course, this popular representation—while still used in movies and by some stage hypnotists for entertainment purposes—bears little resemblance to actual clinical hypnotism. In fact, modern understanding of hypnosis contradicts this conception in several ways. Clients in a hypnotic state have absolute freewill. And they're not really asleep: they're actually very attentive.
As a culture, while our understanding of hypnosis has advanced a great deal in the past century, it's still a mystery of sorts. So here's a clear definition:
Hypnosis is a trance state characterized by extreme suggestibility, relaxation and heightened imagination. It's not really like sleep, because the subject is alert the whole time. It's most often compared to daydreaming, or the feeling of "losing yourself" in a book or movie. You’re fully conscious, but you tune out most of the stimuli around you. You focus intently on the subject at hand, to the near exclusion of any other thought.
This ability to focus and accept suggestions is how I've helped my clients achieve their goals - everything from weight loss to quitting smoking and other incredibly beneficial results.
"I was very doubtful that hypnosis would work to help me with weight loss. Seven weeks later, I have lost three sizes in clothes and have not had any moments of feeling hungry or depressed. It has been the only time in the past 20 years (and countless diets that failed) that I've truly feel I am in control. Try it!"
